COMPUTER STUDIES

Our Computing Studies Group are fortunate to have the use of an extensive range of programs on the network at Richard Lander School at Gloweth, Truro. Here we have access to modern computer terminals and the availability of extremely fast broadband access in one of the school's computer suites, with some thirty terminals, on which we can introduce new computer users to basic keyboard skills, word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail accounts, including even photo manipulation programs.

Do you know how to keep the files on your computer in order? Do you know how to find answers to questions on the internet? Can you sort out your e-mail messages?

What's all the fuss about Facebook? What is Skype? What is an operating system? What is a browser? The answers to these, and any other questions you may have about computer basics, will be dealt with in sessions at the Computer Studies Group, starting on Thursday April 19th at Richard Lander School.

PLEASE NOTE : HALF-TERM - FEBRUARY 16TH - NO CLASS - BACK TO NORMAL ON 23RD FEBRUARY - ROOM 119

We meet during school term times on Thursdays, between 4.00 - 6.00pm, normally in Room 119. We are a good forum to discuss problems and hopefully be able to offer solutions. Bring in your own laptop for guidance or help with new programs. Whilst we are not able to connect members' own PCs to the school's internet, we can support and assist you with your e-mail packages, or downloading programs such as Skype. We also have our own online Yahoo support group on e-mail, where members can put computing questions to others, in the hope that they can help. Either e-mail Angela, with a request to join, or log onto this website: http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/u3acomputergroup to request membership.
