Shelterbox I make no excuse for placing a link to one of Cornwall's major charity organisations on our front page at this time. Shelterbox were in Haiti within 48 hours of the recent earthquake and have been working around the clock there ever since and they seek our help to keep their work up to speed. A simple request earlier this month was made by David White on BBC Radio Cornwall, to raise funding commitments from listeners' during his three hour long programme, to achieve the sum of £490.00, which would cover the cost of provisioning and shipping a single Shelterbox to wherever in the world it might be needed. Amazingly, over those three hours, their phones did not stop ringing and by noon, they had commitments amounting to over £10,000; enough to ship twenty boxes! As of the end of their week, they handed over listeners' cheques to Tom Henderson OBE, the founder of Shelterbox, for the sum of £16,000. Amazing! Our U3A Carrick Web-Site I find it very frustrating to read through our Carrick Newsletter each month, as it drops through the letterbox, only to find features, stories and pictures in print that Group Leaders and Coordinators have sent to our editor, Ryan Cornwall, but have omitted to include or advise the webmaster of changes to venues, dates or provide stories of events that I would readily include on the this web-site. I cannot invent the stories - I do need your help. I am sure there are many who have e-mail available that could help keep the web-site up to date Duncan Tribute
